Pittsburgh, USA – The Global Conference on Myositis (GCOM) 2024, held from March 13-16, concluded with resounding success, highlighting advancements in the field of myositis research. Some of our own JDCBS leaders and very close JDCBS collaborators participated in the event as speakers: Dr. Meredyth Wilkinson, Sue Maillard, and Dr. Sarah Tansley, whose expertise showcased pivotal developments in understanding myositis disorders.

Dr. Meredyth Wilkinson focused on the intersection of IFN and Mitochondrial Changes in Juvenile Myositis. Many other GCOM24 talks referenced Dr Wilkinson’s seminal work published in 2023. Merry’s impassioned advocacy for patient-centered research echoed throughout the conference, inspiring attendees to prioritize inclusivity and patient perspectives in scientific research.

Sue Maillard spoke about exercise and the benefits to both physical and mental health of exercise: a theme that was echoed  in several other sessions.

The Global Conference on Myositis 2024 is the most prestigious conference focused solely on myositis disorders, fostering collaboration and innovation in the pursuit of effective treatments.
